Look who's joined Weichert

Renee Mankoff joins Team NEW COLONY!


For the past 15 years, Renee has been a top producing Commercial Real Estate Loan Officer for a mid-size commercial bank, originating loans on a nationwide basis for income producing properties, including new construction, repositioning and rehab, and permanent financing for both acquisition and refinance with loan sizes ranging from $500,000 to $30 Million.  As a result of the recent changes and challenges in the real estate finance industry, she found herself in a position to consider a new career path.

In early 2010, she made the decision to take the necessary steps to obtain her Maryland Real Estate Salesperson’s license.  She chose to  complete the required 60 hour class via the internet and obtained her license in July, 2010.  


"During the spring months, I researched several national real estate companies and met with brokers and office managers representing the companies I considered to determine where the fit would be best to begin my new career.   While the choices were many, WEICHERT, REALTORS ® - New Colony in Columbia, Maryland, stood out from all the rest. 

From my first meeting with David Vane, Broker, I felt comfortable and the office atmosphere was warm and friendly.  There was a sense that the co-workers were a family and worked together as a team, helping one another along the way.  At my first meeting with David, he indicated that his business plan included an initiative to develop the commercial real estate side of the business and he was open to my working in both commercial and single family real estate.  That growth potential played a big part in my decision process.  David also invited me to attend one of the weekly sales meetings so I could see how the office operated before I made any decision.   Although I didn’t know anyone at that meeting, I felt welcome and was included in the interaction between the agents during the meeting.  At my second visit to the office, I met again with Dave and with Kathy Huver, the Sales Manager for that office.  I was impressed with Kathy’s knowledge as well as her leadership style.  She is generous with her time, easy to work with and always lets me know that any support I need is available.  David’s partner, Michael McKenna, General Manager, makes himself available in the office, offers continued words of encouragement and provides IT support that results in making it easy to concentrate on developing and implementing my business plan.

Going forward, I remain focused on developing a successful and rewarding career with WEICHERT, REALTORS® - New Colony, a goal that is very achievable and will be fun to reach as a result of being part of such a great team."

Columbia/Ellicott City named #2 Best Place to live!


CNNMoney just came out with its annual “100 Best Places to Live in America” and the Columbia/Ellicott City area was ranked #2 on the list, up from #8 a year ago.
They labeled Columbia/Ellicott City area an “economic powerhouse” and listed a low 5.2% unemployment rate and “terrific” schools as some of the reasons for its #2 position on the list.
Additional factors cited include, affordable housing, wide range in housing, lower foreclosure rate and population diversity.    In addition, a great economic forecast is predicted for the area as the government plans to move thousands more positions to the Fort Meade Army Base within the next year.
